Cute! How cool. That would be awesome to keep as a pet. Though I think it would prefer an enclosure over a cage.

Do you mean by they the friend and and fellow Sybil's den member I talked about?( If so I recall her asking some Japanese brokers/breeders if they made exports (she got no for an answer))

That's too bad. We can't have Northern or Southern flying squirrels in Oregon but the giants and Japanese pygmy flying squirrels are allowed, probably just because they are pretty much impossible to get.

I don't want to shift the focus from the red giant but are Siberian flying squirrels obtainable? Heck, they are illegal in Japan probably because of their similarity to the Japanese flying squirrel causing them to hybridize with Japanese flying squirrel if they can survive Japan.

I've never seen any available or anyone have any. It might be possible to import them but I haven't looked into it.
