sybil and benny in their den

Postby pat » Mon Dec 06, 2010 5:09 pm

Here are a few pictures I took of sybil and benny in their den.

sybil was is in the back. she would come to the entrance.
maybe because she couldn't fit past benny :monk-dev:

I asked them if I could hibernate with them, but, they said there is not enough room.

here is a few pictures that gives you an idea of what their den looks like.

They have a two story. but, they prefer upstairs.
They have steps from the inside and two sets of steps outside.
with a porch.

They have lots of straw there.
benny makes the nest for him and sybil.

Hello Pat,

That is so cool. I love your set up. Ben is a large bear. It appears he is drinking a can of soda :rhin: ? He seems like a big boy. Maybe he needs some diet soda  ? But seriously they both look great icon_biggin.gif . Keep up the good work momma bear.

thanks cat person.

benny is a big fellow. I would guess he weighs about 600-700lbs
I told gary, his food must be cut back. so, this winter, he will not get much food.
hopefully, he will lose some weight.

benny loves bear(the beverage) gary gave him a can of bear.

once in awhile, they both get some bear. but, they like wine coolers too.

mandy,

I visited Michael in august. I saw your bears and grunt.

your one female don't like anyone but michael.
when I went to the pen, she jumped at the fence at me.
I think her name is lilly.. does that sound right?

grunt is really slim now. he use to be very overweight when michael got him.
michael does an excellent job with his animals.
I got to see his tigers too. the white one is beautiful.

sybil and benny are pretty spoiled.
I really try hard to make them happy.

that would be really great if you could visit.
you can meet sybil and benny, and all the other critters.
maybe even take a few home :monk-dev:

trying to get rid of two donkeys, if you know if anyone is interested.
I have too many. they pop a kid every year.

I had assumed bear was an obscure brand of beer, which would have made it funnier.

I know this is an old post, but I just wanted to say that your bears are beautiful! Bears are gorgeous animals. There aren't many of them in the UK sadly, I've only ever seen polar bears in real life. I think only one place has black bears, and I'd love to go and see them.

thank you. sadly, Benny(my male) died about a month ago. he was only 13 years old icon-sad
Sybil is still with me, she is a little lonely now.

yes, we are seeing less captive black bears and other exotics. many breeders quit breeding because of the
the horrible ban in ohio. this was all due to the incident in, I think 2011

usually other states will follow with bans icon-sad

Interestingly, many of the exotic pets that are being bred now originally came from zoos. Zoos, especially in the past, would breed their animals to get babies, which would in turn bring in more people, than they would sell the babies. I hear that today they sometimes just euthanize them. I can't believe they don't give them to good owners or private zoos.

Yes, it has become a restriction in some zoo organizations, that any member has to follow, and that is to never sell an animal to a non-member.

The one Bactrian camel breeder we have here in Sweden got his first camels from a zoo, and he had to pretty much beg (camels! A domestic livestock since 4000 years!) the zoo to let him have some. And this was over 20 years ago. It's the "holier than thou"-attitude that zoos often have, that no private individual could possibly care for animals other than cats and dogs.
My main interest is in parrots, dogs, toothed whales and snakes.
Future animals I want to have when we have land are camels, wolfdogs/wolves, coyotes or jackals, striped hyena or aardwolf. Also poultry, rabbits water buffalo and/or yak for livestock.
