Clouded Leopards PA

Postby autumn86 » Sun Jan 29, 2012 2:17 pm

HI everyone,

I know Clouded Leopard are considered to be endangered about is there a way to start and breeding sanctuary in PA? I have researched and seen that many people in other countries have them as pets and here is the US, there are few and far between facilities that breed these magnificent creatures. What permits and license would it take to do this?

You can't get a permit in PA you'll need to move.

I see pet clouded leopards in asia countries. I was watching a video where the clouded leopards are a breeding pair. The problem with clouded leopards raised in captivity is they are extremely friendly with humans almost just big pussy cats. I would love to help preserve the species by breeding them.

Yes!!! The reporter tells how the cats are declining in the wild because of habitat destruction, illegal meat and chinese medicine from their bones and pet trade. Because of their nature when raise in captivity they become just big pussy cats.

I'm just in love with that video. <3

So sad how clouded leopards are becoming more important to poachers with the loss of the tigers, though. That much, at least, is believable. :(

Tigers are so beautiful and some people forget that tigers are not meant to be pets , at least not for everyone. Clouded leopards same thing, even some domestic pets people should not have. Me myself would love a clouded leopard to breed to preserve the species.

Autumn, I really, really hope you can do that. I think it would be amazing to participate in clouded leopard conservation. They are indeed gorgeous animals.

I hope I can. I was telling my husband and he was so supportive, I almost cried. Clouded leopards are very precious to this world and its history.

It will be hard to get an "okay" in PA, I would imagine. Is moving out of state a definite "no?" I think if you went to another state, you could actually start making your dream happen if you're willing to take all the necessary steps. If you started with smaller species like servals, caracals, etc., then you would be able to show that you have experience with similar species; that's the first step to obtaining a USDI license, which is what you will need if you want to keep endangered species.

Wow, clouded leopards are just so gorgeous. It really got to me when the guy said "they killed all the tigers so now they're going for the clouded leopard". Like, OMG I would like to shoot all those poachers myself. See how they feel. >8(((

Normally I am not a big cat person, but wow. I hope a massive breeding campaign goes on for those, because they are beautiful and adorable at the same time.

I definately wouldnt mind a feline if it was one of those, and they are too cute to be endangered.

I think if there was a campaign to save them since they are such a rare species of cat, it would be great to have a breeding foundation to start in PA. the laws are tricking but there is always a way around them for the greater good. Clouded Leopards are the largest of the small cats and supposedly, very tame if raise in captivity. in some countries, they are pets.
