Duck Injury

Postby nicoeflein » Tue May 11, 2010 8:27 pm

I just noticed, or really inspected, one of my Muscovy ducks, and her bill is terribly injured. I thought that the injuries were just attached leaves and mud, they sift through the river all the time, but it is actually much worse. The injury is healing wonderfully, and she isn't physically affected by it, she still loves to eat. I will just let it finish it heal on its own, unless anyone thinks it requires additional care . . . Here is a picture attached to show the dilemma.

Any advice will be appreciated, and if anyone knows what would have done this, please reply, thanks for looking.

Nic

Could it be that a dog got hold of her? I know that happened to my gander once, looking similar, and it healed by itself. Maybe antibiotics in the drinking-water might help???

I think it was a dog as well. The neighbor's dog is a big dope, and has gone after the other ducks too. The injury has healed by itself, it never seemed to affect her. Thanks for replying.

Good to hear! Maybe get a slingshot or something to teach the dog....?
