Re: Toucans!
You are quite welcome! I do hope you get the toucan (hehe especially so I can gather ideas off your experiences!) What species are you looking at?

Re: Toucans!
I'd really love a Channel Bill or Swainson's, I'd like to think by New Year's next year I will have him/her. Have to definitely start saving up now :)
How about yourself?

Re: Toucans!
Nice! I'm personally looking at the Keel-Billed beauties! 5-7 years in the future is my ideal situation but realistically it might well be 10, with my family's move and my college transfer. I'm completely in love though!

Re: Toucans!
I understand the college deal, I'll be going this fall and it will definitely be interesting. Are you a senior now? We worked our butts of for scholarships now so hopefully I won't have to pay much & I'll be living at home so it's either a bird or a few fish haha!
Anyways, off subject, I love Keel-Billed but I feel like they would scare me with how big they are lol

Re: Toucans!
Actually I'm a freshman. Lol I'm thinking about maybe staying at home in Florida, but the program I want to be in is on the other side of the state. I had the fish here in my room, but moving them was a pain for when I visit home-boyfriend has them now. xD
I might have been nervous as well, but with the personality and the gentleness, and of course the color, I just really love them!

Toucans!
Are the Keel Billed the largest of species, or is it to Toco? Anyone find a picture of a Keel Billed next to a person, or anything to be able to reference it's size?

The toco is the largest one. ;)
Are you sure Swainson's are smaller than keel-billed? I thought they were around the same size.

Thanks for clarifying. I also thought what you said is correct. I figured it was Toco is big, Keel Billed and Swainsons the medium, and toucanets are the little ones.

Here's a link to the customer images on Emerald Forest's site which is where I'll hopefully be getting my toucan from in the future, this should give you a pretty good relative idea of not only a keel-billed's size, but also some of the other popular ones as well:

Aaah! How'd I miss the first and last one! Swainson's are pretty darn cute though, you just may be on to something! I love the channel-bill one though! The blue around the eyes is just beautiful.
