Emu leg!

Postby Botat » Mon Sep 24, 2012 8:24 pm

My grandparents have an emu chick that is around 6 months with a twisted leg, it started just a couple of weeks ago but it has started to limp. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

thats a tough one.

not sure what to suggest.

when you mean twisted, is the foot crooked too, or just the leg?

can you get a picture of the leg?

some people put splints on baby emus or rheas when the legs or leg is bowed.
but, at six months, not sure what causes it.

what are they feeding him/her?
if fed the wrong types of food, it could weaken the emu and could cause problems.

if possible, is there a vet that could look at it?

keep us updated...
