Blond Emu Chick Pictures

Postby Chance » Tue Apr 10, 2007 10:20 am

We took some pictures yesterday evening (hence the fuzzy quality of the photos) of Orchid and some friends. Orchid is the first blond emu we've hatched so far from our blond hen. We have high hopes this little guy survives and grows up to help us produce white ones in the future.

Chance,

they are so cute.

I still didnt get any emus yet

I seen two young ones at the auction, but they were about 6-7 months old. I couldn't get them, cause I came there in a car. don't think they would have sat real good in the back seat

The babies are so cute, I really want the babies in stead of the larger ones..

I hope your blonde emu makes it, they all look very healthy and I know you take excellent care of them.

Thanks for pictures..

Sorry to hear you haven't gotten any more emus Pat! You have more patience than I do. I actually do have some youngster females available if you wanted to have some shipped to you. And no, I don't think a 6 or 7 month old emu would ride well in the back of a car! But it would make for an interesting (and messy) trip!

Wrighty, emus are quite a bit fluffier than rheas as chicks. That's probably because emus hatch in winter whereas rheas hatch in summer, so the emus need the thicker coat, as it were.

I have other animals to keep me busy, along with work. So sometimes it is hard for me to focus getting emus.

The shipping will be kind of expensive, otherwise, I would get you to ship me some.

There is a swap meet in ohio in may, they might have some emus then

I have been raising emus for years and I am planning to get blondes. Does anyone sell blonde emu eggs?
