wolfy,

this is very unusual for hawks to come that close to humans, let alone stay in one place.. I would guess it is someones pet.

would like to hear other members opinion..

I have a couple that you sent me, I will post them here for the other members to see.

The second one looks like he is looking down at you..

redtail

Beautiful pics. :) Looks like a juvinile red tail. I'd guess looking at the markings he/she is about a year. They aren't often scared of people at this point. I've been up close with a couple merlins around the same age. :)

Syburd,

I didn't know young hawks are fearless of people..
I never seen one close up in the wild.. except one time, I found a dead hawk on my back porch. he/she looked to be young.. I found that to be rather odd to see a dead hawk so close to my house.. I have to wonder what killed him...

I have hawks flying around my property once in a while.. sometimes, I would see a couple at a time.. my dogs usually keep them up in the air though.. I honestly prefer them staying there, because of all my chickens, ducks...

Thanks for info..

He is a beautiful bird. I always have Bald Eagles flying around my property. I don't know if they have nested somewhere close or if they are just hanging around until they migrate or something. Though they are beautiful birds Eagles, Hawks, and Falcons have been known to attack humans when they are too close to their nest. If the Eagles have a nest, I hope when I go walking in my feild I don't walk near it. That would be very bad! I wish I knew where their nest is so I would know where not to go.
When I see my future foxie for the first time, I'll know that it was worth the wait.
