Question about selling at Mt. Hope Sept. 19-21, 2013

Postby TheSilverFox » Wed Aug 21, 2013 10:56 pm

I have a question about selling at Mt. Hope, I have a few small mammals I would like to sell there but I am told that I must have a USDA license to do so. I have just kept these animals as pets (actually bought them at Mt. Hope) . I don't breed. sell or exhibit them so never needed a USDA license and since I am getting rid of them all it would be pointless to get one now. Any suggestions?

I'm pretty sure you need the USDA to sell even if you're not a breeder.

If you're selling exotics, you need the USDA license. However, if you gave them away for free, you would not need it.

I was looking at some of my b.o.s and some said dealer no. one said prob no.

maybe it depends on the the type of animal

the best thing to do is call mt hope and ask what is needed for your animals.

Pat has the right idea to call and ask about what you'll need. :) You may need health papers or import numbers.

But you will need a USDA license. It's a federal law that says you need one, so it supersedes state and auction regulations.

I'm a bit late to the party, but it'd depend on what kind of animal you're taking, too.
