Echo and River Picture Spam

Postby sarajeku » Thu Feb 14, 2013 5:39 pm

Echo's littermate, River, was recently pulled out of an abusive home. Now she is in my care and she and Echo are having a blast!
She's incredibly sweet, but she does have some resource guarding issues, so we're working on that.

Her name was originally "Lady" but no one took the time to teach her name to her, so I named her "River." It suits her better, and she is already answering to it. She LOVES walks, and she is SO good on the leash.. way better than Echo.
She looks like a big fluffy fox.

She's super pretty. Are you keeping her?

You can't have her!

Because I want her...

She is soooo beautiful. Her coloring is really pretty. I love the photo of her and Echo laying on the lawn. They have the exact same ears. She looks a bit more serious than Echo though.

damn Michigan law for banning wolfdogs!

Echo and River are to the far left. Echo is looking at me, River is biting the bars.

Not surprisingly, you aren't the only person I'm going to have to fight to keep her. I have another friend who wants her (but refuses to fill out an adoption application) and she is going to hate me forever if I do keep her.

Poor gal. Glad she's with you now.

Her and Echo look almost exactly alike! If they were the same color, I don't think I'd be able to tell them apart.

I like her reddish color and those ginormous Echo ears on her head. ;)

Aww she looks so cute. Glad she found a good place to stay.
She looks right at home. Plus she has a sibling to play with now :)
Like ash said besides colouring I would find it hard to know who was who.

They do look a LOT alike. I've mistaken her for him when she's in my peripheral vision, but she is very fluffy compared to him. Especially in her face and mane. He has a close, thick coat with coarse guard hairs. She's got a very thick, very fluffy and soft coat with almost no coarse hair. Only in darkened areas where the hair is gray or black (tail tip, precaudal gland, mini V cape)

It's hard to see in pictures, but here's one of their backs where you can tell her mane is fluffy. It hides her collar (which is just like his only black with paw prints), where his is completely visible.

She also has more of the "cheek fluff" (which I think makes her look foxy)
Image

And a more petite, foxy face. She has no stop. Even less than he has.
Image

She likes to sleep on the back of the couch. She's too big to fit there. She drapes herself over with all 4 paws hanging over the sides and precariously hangs there while leaning on my head. If she weren't so good indoors, she'd EASILY be able to hop over a 6 foot fence.. already. At 5 months.

It's starting to look like as much as he enjoys playing with her, Echo might be just as jealous of her. He's regressed in his potty training since she's been here.

I considered that he might just be marking, but he always goes in the same spot (something he does even outside). He won't even consider peeing or pooping outside, no matter how long I wait. I don't mind just walking him until he gives up and pees when it's mild out, but when the temperature is in the lower 20s, it's just too cold for me to do that.

I carry treats in my pockets to reward him for 'going' outside, just as I did when he was a puppy. But he just won't go. He waits until the second he comes in, runs to 'his' spot, then potties. No amount of bleach has swayed his habit. I'm thinking he's jealous of not being the baby anymore. I'm going home for the week next week, and my boss is going to keep River while I test my theory. I can't keep up with the cleaning.

Any updates? Do you think you'll be able to keep River?

Maybe if Echo was neutered he wouldn't be marking his territory so much...

Let us know what you decide.
