Pygmy Marmoset breeder?

Postby foxyjax1212 » Tue Feb 15, 2011 3:42 am

My husband and I are thinking of adopting a baby monkey of some sort...we were thinking Capuchin...but I told him that i though it would like something even smaller if we could find it...

So...I was wondering if anyone knew of a Pygmy Marmoset breeder. I would really like one...Thanks!

Primatestore.com there is a pygmy for sale. i believe they want $6000 for it. Commons are alot cheaper $1400- 2000. & they are still very small. But please do your research before you buy any primate, they are ALOT more work than you may initially think

I'm aware of the work. :) I wanted to find breeders so that when we are ready...we can get out baby. Right now it's just something that crossed our mind when I recieved an email yesterday from a woman who was wondering if the Arkansas Game And Fish Commission (where I work) could take a Capuchin. I told her "No maam, we don't take monkeys...but I could locate you a good home. I would love to."

Then, I sat down, and I thought about it. I wanted to help this lady...but I had never owned a monkey before. So, i contacted some people and found a woman who specialized in breeding Capuchins...and took the baby off her hands.

But now.....my mind is stuck on the idea...

Tamarins are supposed to be better pet monkeys than marmosets though marms are better than capuchins.

Oh yeah she doesn't sell her monkeys as pets but does link to http://www.minisexotics.com/id65.html
