Ivometin is used on dogs sometimes but it is off label use. Some collie and sheapard breeds have a higher chance of being allergic to it. It's the same chemical in HeartGuard. The injectable is pig or cattle(I forget which). It need to be diluted a a bunch. I'd need to look up the exact ratio. I had the vet do it for Eldorado to treat his worms he still had when we got him but we gave it oral(was injectable but given oral).

No reason to use it as a preventative. Mites rarely happen on a fully healthy dog.
