any suggestions on where i can buy a piranha? well actually someone i know is interested i told her id help her out. thanks for you help.

look for a good aquarium store. There are many variety of piranha most are actually vegetarian. Your state could ban them though so the best bet is ask at a really good store. They are also schooling fish so you need a big tank and at least three.

I'm not sure but I believe they are banned throught out the US, I know in Florida we definitly have a ban.

They are not near as bad as made out to be. You can swim with them and not get bit. It's just a nice scary myth. Even the few species that do eat meat are scavengers and go for already dead things. They don't want to bother with living things because they thrash about and could injure them.

There's no nation wide ban on ownership but there might be on importing them, I'm not as up to date on animals that aren't mammals in regards to that.

Pacu is an alternative and is often legal where "piranha" are not(I just couldn't remember the name before) They did sell those in CA but they can get very big
