Very Weird Pets (Pill Milipedes, etc)

Postby ShyVulpine » Mon Feb 09, 2009 12:36 am

Guys, you got to check these out! Some are so beautiful!

Okay, I was Googling pics of pill bugs - I've loved them even as a little girl and came across this bug that is completely new to me. It's called a pill milipede and it looks almost exactly like a garden-variety of pill bug but they're enormous! Some of them are colored black, red, orange or even emerald green!

According to this article, there hasn't been a successful breeding of them in captivity, but they are kept as pets. Probably hard to come by in anything other than an insect selling website. A few species aren't because they have poisons in their skin that can cause rash. I can hardly stop looking at some of their pictures tho.

Pets : tarantulas (6), Chinese water dragon, border collie/mix and a miniature doberman, 3 blue-and-gold macaws and a ringneck parakeet.
Future Goal : Collecting more tarantulas.

They are quite different! I don't think that variety exists over here.
If you enjoy your bugs you might try to get in contact with malane3 and buy some of her hissing cockroaches :)

Heehee. Thanks for the promotion, BB. I've already sold 4 of them. ;)
Those are gorgeous! I love pill bugs too. Those are giant! I'd like to see one in person.
