Kaa, welcome to the board! You need to introduce yourself and show us some pictures of your little man. I love watching silvers grow because they go through so many "color" changes. They start off super black and then get the pretty silver ticking. It's really cool to watch them grow.

My breeder emailed me that the babies were born and there was only 1 male marble in the litter, which was what I requested so I'm stoked! I should get him in early May. Ahhh!!!! So excited!!

This is the only semi clear pic I could get of my boy. He doesn't sit still long enough to get a pic of him. Still trying to come up with a name

very pretty.
Ash is right, a silver is usually all black, then get their silver as they get older. can't remember what age my female started getting the silver.

hope to see more photos and updates.

Aaw. They are very wiggly for sure. It takes hundreds of photos to get one decent one, lol. He's so cute.

Oh what a cutie pie! My first fox was a silver, I feel like by 12 weeks she was getting the white ticking. It was pretty cool watching how she changed.

I am picking up my fox on Friday! I'm super excited. But bummed a little bit at the same time. The breeder had one litter of marbles, 1 male and 5 females. A male was my first choice. Anyways the breeder emailed me and let me know that another guy who was the first to put a deposit down said he wanted a male black and white, which he took to be a silver, but the guy wanted a marble. He was first, so he offered me another male of a different color, or a female marble. I told him I would like to take the female but if the other male is still there I'd like to look at him too if he's not spoken for. The breeder called his color Opal, is this the same as Pearl? I tried to look up opal fox but all I got was picture of fox necklaces lol.

Never heard of Opal. Who is the breeder? It is probably a name found more often in the fur trade, kind of like lavender.

Mine started getting white around his eyes and the base of his ears at around 6 weeks. He's 8 weeks old today.

Kaa, he's precious! He is so darn black.

Lilah, that's super exciting! Do you know the breeder?

A lot of the white has came through. And he went through a growth spurt. Went from 3.5 pounds at 8 weeks old to 7 pounds at 10 weeks. I'm not sure about the growth rate. But he seems to be growing fast.

Anybody have any tips for food aggression or leash training. He becomes possessed with food and freaks out on the leash.

I'll start my own thread with some updated pictures of him soon.

Both of those things are typical problems. Food aggression will always be there, but you can curb it with training. I hand fed mine a bunch when they were little, and this helped mine lessen their food aggression. It's still there in small doses, or if I give them something super exciting to eat. So will never fully go away.

Leash training is something foxes don't seem to take well to. The best advice I can give is to make sure he has good feelings towards the leash. So slow introductions where he sniffs it, and you give him treats. Or put it on, give him treats, take it off, give him treats. It's not something they take to naturally. Mine are both fine with their harnesses, but Ifrit is still scared of the leash since she feels restrained by it. Training will help as well as repetition. Best you can do at first is try to get your guy to associate it with positive things. :)

They grow so fast!

After much time and planning.. [and a regretful cancellation at tiny tracks due to complications with dates and distance that became to much..] here’s my new little boy from hillview!
He’s not any of the colors I originally wanted[and a bit older at 9 weeks.. Hoping that isn't to late?] but the silver kit they had didn’t seem keen with me and this guy was brought back shortly after we arrived even though they were not due until noon due to “the persons property not being zoned for it” and he was good with me and well.. Since I’d brought $300 just in case for the silver.. It seemed like destiny wanted me to take this little pearl, so I did.

Now I’ll have to think of a new name though.. Or just keep him named as Blue as his previous owners had. I’ll be taking him to the vet in the coming days to get him checked out for any possible issues but he seems perfectly healthy.

At the very least should there be any complications the place is only two hours away.
