good choice, from my experience, I think the males are a little better. are you getting him fixed? I suggest it.

Yes, I will mostly likely get him neutered. I hope to see some pictures of other Pearl foxes.

neutered helps a little with marking and odor, but, don't expect them not to mark icon-sad

I seen some adults long time ago, they are beautiful.
I found this site with a pearl:
http://www.saunderscountry.com/Animals/pearlfox.htm

they look better in person, and of course at their best (like other foxes) in the fall.

It's so hard. I keep going back and forth from marble and pearl! I know I don't need both! I hate decisions!

I thought you decided on the pearl for your first one?
I can relate about making up our mind. I am the same way.

Congrats on making a decision. :) Make sure to have everything 100% before he gets here so that you'll not be rushing to get things done later. It makes the experience a LOT more rewarding that way. Please make sure you build an outdoor enclosure for him. It doesn't need to be expensive. ;)

Pearls are lovely. I'm sure you've been checking out Koji's topic, heehee. What a pretty boy he is.

You're right. I'm wanting a pearl. When I call Dave that's what I'll tell him! Lol I'll make sure I have everything all ready. I'm going to get the enclosure all set up around February.

I was hoping you would choose the pearl. but, good choice.
I am excited for you. If I didn't have so many animals, I would get a pearl as my 1st choice.

pat wrote:my marble (daryl) is my oldest fox. I spent more time with him. (long story on the other two)
but, he is now 12 years old. still friendly, comes when I call him. he was raised with my oldest raccoon, which both got along great and bonded.
when larry (my raccoon) died, daryl was very saddened. both use to communicate with each other.

right now, I have 3 raccoons (some have died from old age) I didn't post on my site yet about my two youngest ones. one is an albino female, the other is a male standard color. love them dearly. in fact they are all sitting at my feet now  if you want to see pictures of my newest raccoons, let me know, will post.

here is some of the info on all three foxesI have:
http://sybilsden.com/fox/foxmain.htm

my personal opinion, I like raccoons better than foxes. raccoons are easier to work with, and will cuddle. foxes don't always want to be petted.
some do I guess, maybe if they are the only animal. but, not even close to how a raccoon is. raccoons also are more dedicated to using litter pans. I am not trying to talk you out of getting a fox. only telling you preference from my experience.

so many people want foxes because of their beauty. keep in mind, no matter what, foxes will mark. it is a must for an outdoor enclosure for them
and a couple litter pans per fox. I use the cement mixing pans for litter pans. the bigger the better.

that is only my personal experience.

here is a link to my care sheet:
http://sybilsden.com/caresheet/caremain.htm

the left side of it, are the animals I have raised.

feel free to ask anything you are not sure of. hope some of this info you find helpful..
thank you for researching prior to getting a fox. you will find it helpful by doing so.

we are here to help

Pat, let's see your raccoons! I love both but have already put one down for a pearl fox. Maybe 2018 I'll get a coon!

Dylan and cassi ,

as I mentioned, my first fox and first raccoon I bought the same day. they bonded to each other.
it was so cute to watch them play when they were younger. as adults, they still stayed together, even though
there were other foxes and raccoons.

I 'll never forget the day my husband pulled a big cat fish out of the pond for larry. larry was napping at the top tower,
but daryl came down and seen the fish in water, he ran up to where larry was, and it was like he told him to come down and get the fish out of the water. which larry did, they both shared the fish.

if you could handle two, you could get a raccoon at the same time you get your fox. not talking you into it at all, only a suggestion.
but, I do understand one at a time. keep in mind, if you do get a raccoon later, your fox will be older, therefore, you cannot put them together when the raccoon is young. the fox will kill it. you would have to wait till the raccoon is almost full grown, then do a slow intro.

here is some pictures of my two youngest ones. these pictures were taken when they were still on the bottle. I need to adjust the more recent pictures.. the albino is lighter than what the picture shows. will get some better ones later.

still glad you are getting a pearl fox, I am sure you are excited to get it. I am anxious for you..
