Pet Foxes Looking for Homes

Postby Katalyst » Mon Aug 07, 2017 7:01 am

ADMIN, I HOPE THIS IS OK. PLEASE REMOVE IF NOT.

There are a small number of silver foxes currently in need of rehoming in the UK. We are looking to build a network of suitable rehomes to avoid these animals being passed from pillar to post.

Before applying to rehome one of these animals, please understand that the provisions of a proper, secure and enriched outdoor enclosure and previous 'exotic' mammal experience (doesn't have to be fox specific experience but we need to you that you're fully aware of what you're looking to taking on) are non-negotiable. Please understand that foxes don't tolerate big changes too well and that you're going to need to be prepared to put in time and effort to make these animals tractable.

Please drop me a line to discuss fox care and housing or to offer these animals a safe, permanent home.
Alternatively, contact us at Black Foxes UK on Facebook:

Kind regards,

I was just about to recommend contacting Black Foxes U.K until I read that that's you!

I don't live in the U.K but will spread the word. Good luck!

That's perfectly fine to post. Sorry you have to find homes for so many.... It really is very sad. I pray they'll find good forever homes.

Thought about Black Foxes UK too, and then also realized that was you.

It's incredibly frustrating. There are some truly brilliant breeders in the UK and you can bet your bottom dollar that it's never their offspring needing homes...
There's a small nucleus of "breeders" churning out litters every year and selling to totally inappropriate and unprepared homes, often without making it clear that they'll almost certainly need an outdoor enclosure, that foxes are not a dog or cat or as one seems to be touting "the very best of both worlds".

If we can do away with these idiots, a fox in need of rehoming would be a rare thing indeed and would be for genuine reasons. It makes me angry.

Thanks, much appreciated!
I'm just an admin for BFUK, I don't run it. I'm going to sort a seperate rehoming page later today though as it seems a shame to choke up the BFUK citizen science page with rehoming cases and we feel it needs it's own seperate hub.

Thanks for helping getting the word out!
