So people feel it's likely the ESA will be messed with. I couldn't find the original article I saw and wanted to link too but here is one http://kticradio.com/agricultural/endan ... -targeted/
Now some of the things they were suggesting like a cap on how many species could be listed at once are stupid but along with voicing opinions on that we could try and get our voices heard for changes we'd like. Like, no non-native species listed because CITES already covers that, and allow for private/commercial possession of those that are listed long as they have the USDA papers to show it came from a breeder and not the wild. Pointing out that this would be a boost for the species and animal business could help. Like there used to be a lot of private ocelots till the ESA listing now servals have taken their place as the small wild cat of choice. This means many less ocelots and lost revenue for those breeders and exhibitors who used to have them.
Montana Rep. Ryan Zinke is current pick for interior secretary so might be who to write along with your own reps. Also Trump’s Policy Implementation Team Lead Ado Machida is quoted as talking about it and should likely be written to as well.
Spread the idea around. If a lot of people write asking for these two changes they might just listen. Especially if you can lean heavily towards the good for business aspect of things.
