blue bay shepherds: should they be considered a wolf hybrid and are they regulated as one?

Postby David492 » Thu May 17, 2018 2:14 pm

Hello, I've been researching about wolf hybrids for a while now but sadly, I need a license to keep one in LA. But I found this newly developed species called Blue Bay Shepherds. Apparently, a wolf dog breeder in florida is developing a dog breed called a blue bay shepherd, and I've heard good stories about Southern breeze. I don't know if this newly developed breed should be considered as a wolfdog, because Vicki, the developer, says they have some wolf blood in it. Should they be considered a wolfdog and should they be regulated as a wolf hybrid? And also, are sarloos wolfhounds and czechoslovakian wolfdogs considered a wolf hybrid and are regulated as a wolf hybrid? Thank you!

If it has wolf blood in it, it would be considered a wolfdog/hybrid. So wouldn't be okay. Sorry, :( The Blue Bay Shepherds are beautiful.

what confuses me though is that there is a czechoslovakian wolfdog breeder who owns a kennel in Los Angeles called greyfarer.

That's probably because he has a permit, probably a USDA-license too, to own them and might be exempt. You could always message him and ask what his exemption is.

As far as I am aware, the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog is not considered a wolf hybrid since they are recognized breed by the UKC and on their way to being recognized by the AKC, but to know for sure here are some experts you can ask:

Blue Bays are still a developing breed so its unlikely that they are allowed, but you can always ask here:

No prob. ^^ I have wanted a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog myself for years even when they were none existant here in the states. I was so happy when I found out that the breed had finally been brought to America.
