Raccoon breeder in Oklahoma??

Postby MissJennieL » Mon Apr 01, 2013 2:26 am

Looking to get a raccoon kit from a licensed breeder in Oklahoma. Anyone know of any breeders in the area or even a surrounding state? I want to be able to pick up myself, no shipping so must be closely. Thanks for any and all help.

Do you have a permit?

I wasn't aware I needed a permit to own one as a pet. I was only informed that I had to get one from a licensed breeder and had to have papers to prove it came from a breeder and not wild caught.
I already have a veterinarian that will treat my 'coon when I get one.

How do I get a permit if I have to have one?

Here is a summary of Oklahoma laws regarding exotics: viewtopic.php?f=71&t=9089

I don't think raccoons are legal to own in that state, if those terms are up to date and not missing anything.

some states don't require a permit.

actually, in Pa, a bill of sale and purchased in PA is all that is needed for a raccoon.
not sure of other states.

best to check to in your state to make sure.

Finally found a licensed raccoon breeder in Oklahoma! I am going to look at a baby tomorrow and will most likely bring her home with me. I can't wait.
All that I am required is my bill of sale from the breeder, but I will also get a permit from wildlife commission just to be on safe side.
Can't wait to get my girl!

Oklahoma laws have changed again.
No commercial license needed
Only proof of purchase and breeders info

Thank-you, Sissy. Do you happened to have a link to the law that states that, just for record?
