Spoke to usda officer regarding confusion

Postby linseylou » Fri Feb 02, 2018 2:54 pm

I get people believing all the time they can breed and sell foxes without a usda license, so to answer that question once and for all i emailed them. The bit she mentioned about tn isn't very detailed, as to breed in tn you need a usda,a propagation permit, and a twra permit. but that's not the important thing

if they don't believe you, tell them to call the dnr in the permits dept.
even get it in writing from them. I hope this person does their research and legality of owning a fox. otherwise, the outcome will be yet a another sad case.

in my state PA. I have a probagtion permit. supposedly, as I was told by the game commission. I can sell, breed and buy with this permit.
again, all states and even counties and township also have the final say so. however, that is in my state. r I need a bill of sale from whoever I buy from or sell to.

there is a post on state regulation on this board.

People in the minkenry community are like this too- adamant that you don't need a USDA license to breed and sell mink, no matter how much proof you show 'em. Some people just never listen.
5 Dogs, 2 cats, 2 leopard geckos, 1 guinea pig, 1 axolotl, and a coatimundi currently in my family. :)

Exotic "wishlist": red fox, arctic fox, gray fox, bat eared fox, fennec fox, mink, muntjac deer, owl (any species).
