Anteater Tales

Postby TamanduaGirl » Thu Jan 14, 2016 3:13 pm

Pua has her own thread but Aurora's not there. So I'll try to share them both here a bit more often.

I posted this on FB but the cute story of Aurora getting stuck in the fennec cage was over shadowed by the fact it was the first time I'd mentioned getting a fennec on there. You guys already knew so you can better appreciate silly Aurora. (I ran out of zip ties cuz I wasted some so am waiting on more is why it's not done)

Aurora likes to explore more than Pua and wandered into the condo at ground level and worked her way up the ramps till she got into the playroom level. This is the only fully finished level cage wise and the cage doors were clamped shut.

There is a ramp up to the penthouse level but it was blocked with wire waiting to be fastened. So she was trapped! She began clawing at the wire right where the door happened to be but nothing happened other than waking mom up.

So mom came to let her out and Aurora bolted to freedom. Now we have an effective Aurora trap. Apparently it never occurred to her to go back down the ramps.

The plus side if a tamandua can't get the door open we're set on security. Aurora came out the other side by the desk form this photo.

 Poor Aurora!

That's so funny that she got stuck and couldn't get down, lol. I put my sister's little dog up on a 6' "fox high rise" with ramps to see if he could figure out how to get down... But he just jumped! (I'm so lucky he didn't break himself!)

I would like to hear more cute stories about Aurora. I really want to know what she thinks of the other animals in your household--and what she will do when the fennec arrives.

That big a jump would be scary. Beaker climbs the cat trees fairly easy without ramps.

She's been going through the condo but she got "stuck" again the other night. I guess she accidentally pushed the cage door closed coming down the ramp. It's not like it was closed tight or anything though. Maybe she just likes me being her doorman.

Pua thinks the penthouse level his her treat room now.

Gotta work on a solution for the wood dust escape when I open the door to clean the topper. Due to how the hinges are it makes a gape when open. Looks like pee pads might work okay though. Just have to stop the dust piling against the door and then falling out the gap.

Pua is having fun messing up the fennec condo ImagePua in jail by TamanduaGirl, on Flickr

I hadn't put their bridge in place one night when Aurora got up early so she went the long way over the tower and across the book shelves and down to the floor. I thought since she was down I'd pick her up as she went by and weigh her but soon as I made a move for her she ran. It's funny because out of my room she s unphased by the dogs and me walking around her but in our room she is "jumpy".

Aurora found her way into the sand box and dug in there. Was probably disappointed to find she could not tunnel to freedom.

I love that last picture. That should be framed, lol. So pretty, and the lighting is perfect. Is that Pua?

oops sorry, the last one was Aurora. Thank you.
---------

Aurora: "Pua came and stole half my ants last night. She rarely even eats the ants anymore, she's all about the coconut, but if I have some she always steals. But she later tried to make it up to me by taking me on a fridge raid but we couldn't get it open.

"So we chased and wrestled each other around the room and under the bed and battled on the stairs. Then I lead her into the fennec cage to continue the play fight. She was nervous about going in there but I convinced her.

"She climbed up onto the shelf to fight down at me, then... I ran away and left her there and she got confused and took awhile to find her way back out. "ha, ha, got you back""

What the heck's going on here?

Mom, help me out of here!

Okay I got this figure out.

While in there Pua tried to climb on top of the wheel, didn't work. That's not how you do it.

At least the cage is getting some use
