Gender unknown for now. Born eyes and ears closed but already eyes and ears have opened up.

He/she had a good set of lungs on it. Quieted down after a bit.

Mom is doing a good job. Read the instinct is to squeal if not on mom so she comes to get it. Still hear a squeal now and then.

That was my thought too. At least baby is streamlined.

Thanks. Both are doing fine today too. Aurora actually ate a lot last night. Making a baby must be hungry work.

Congratulations! That is so wonderful! I'm so glad the baby seems to be strong and healthy. I can't wait to hear whether it's a boy or gal. How soon until you'll be able to tell?

I don't know. I should be able to tell. I just don't want to take it to soon and disturb the bonding. I may wait till she decides she's been cooped up long enough and starts coming out again unless I get a peek.

:eleph: :bear: Congrats TamanduaGirl and Aurora!

Are you going to start breeding or just keep this one?

Want to breed but we need a male so if it's a boy we keep him but if a girl then we might have a trade. Another baby was born a few days before so if this is a girl and that a boy we could trade. If both baby's are girls then I'm not sure yet but most likely keep baby and find a breeding facility for mom since she may not adjust to a house pet life but we've got time to see.

Finally got to touch him(her). Very soft but aren't all babies soft?

Baby bits are really really really tinny but looks like a boy. So baby is Cinco, fifth male to grace our household with his presence. Though wont feel 100% till he's got more to look at. Boys are pointed and girls are rounded but so tinny hair could cause a mistake in appearance. But well go with Boy for now.

Weighed him yesterday, 14oz, but mom got upset because he cried. He doesn't cry long as I don't pick him up so just gently lifted his leg a bit. He is okay with that since he is used to mom moving him around a bit.

If Cinco is a male, will you be trading aurora for an unrelated female, or do you think you will be too attached?

I don't know yet. I think a lot depends on her. Being older she may not settle well into house pet life but I'd feel bad sending her on again if she does like it here.
