He looks so happy in the first photo like he's smiling. The last pic of him is very beautiful.

That first photo was taken with my cell phone. He's such a ham that he would have posed of he'd seen my camera. But yes, he was quite happy. That was his greeting when I went in with him.

I just realized after someone asked, that I hadn't posted this set of pictures.
Here are some photos of me and Totem working on his training. I had a bag of beef jerky (he is picky about his treats).

This was after our training session. We always have a cuddle session after.

This was the same day as this photo, which was taken when I first sat down to greet him. This was the first time we saw each other after my big brother passed away. (That rock is the only seat in his enclosure :icon-wink: )

I love the shirt! And I am positive that I would read a book about you and Totem probably even more vigorously than the Daily Coyote. The bond is just so incredible and beautiful to be at least witness to even through pictures.

Those last two of Totem are very adorable and I'm sure made you feel all warm inside!

Thank you. The last picture is bittersweet, and I'm sure I've posted it here before, but I enjoy sharing it for others to see. My younger brother took the picture and he told me "that just melted my heart. Now even I love coyotes."
Totem is very much a healing spirit, and was the only thing that was able to piece me back together after the uhh... aforementioned incident. I went into his enclosure every other day (depending on the weather) after I pulled myself together enough to actually leave my apartment. Then in early october, wolf run rescued Echo's litter and I adopted Echo. I've been able to cut my visits with Totem to once a week (when weather allows).

I've always had the impression that animals can sense what their human handlers are feeling and to seemingly know how to take care of the problem at hand. Not sure what it is exactly, but I believe that is an integral part of the human-animal bond.

I think you're right. Totem always knows how I'm feeling and when I need more attention than usual. Some days he is kind of standoffish, other days, he can tell I need him and he will curl up in my lap just for me to pet him. icon-smile

Anything from the Canidae family (notably coyotes and foxes) are awesome adorable animals! That's it, once I get a really high paying job, I'll get both! But I'll need more hands-on experience first.

Man, now I want a wolfdog, a fox, and a coyote... I would have to name him Wile E Coyote.

Awww. Wile E. Coyote isn't a very original name for a pet coyote! You'd have to name it something more original.

There are tons of pet coyote videos out there.

There are also several videos posted by Chasing Tail, as well as by The Daily Coyote.

The name has nothing to do with being original, everything to do with my favorite cartoon growing up was Road Runner and Wiley Coyote!

Hrm, wonder what would be better first, a fox, coyote, or low content wolfdog...

I LOVE my low content wolfdog. Maybe do exactly what I did and volunteer with a coyote and get a LC wolfdog at the same time?

And that was my favorite cartoon growing up too! I guess I just have a habit of not naming things after cartoons. Dunno why. I never had a Tigger or Simba or Balto either. Even though Echo looks a LOT like Balto (the cartoon).
