Louisiana

For a list of state regulations. Always contact your state department to verify legality! We do not make claims to this list being accurate though we strive for it to be. Changes in laws happen more frequently than we can keep up with and your regulators may interpret the law differently than we did.

Summary of Law: No person may possess wolves or hybrids, bears, cougars, or non-human primates as "pets." If you possessed one of these animals prior to the passage of the regulation you are grandfathered in.

All species of foxes are banned. A permit is needed but they do not issue them except to licensed rehabs.
They actually took my fox [...] They do not even allow ownership of grey foxes.

The websites say only red foxes are restricted but that's not true. They do not allow ownership of any type of fox here now.

I've tried to apply for the permits and they said they do not issue them because of a disease that is found in foxes right now.
