New Diet?

Postby Aplexis1323 » Sun Sep 28, 2014 11:29 am

I have seen a lot of people saying they feed their dog a raw diet fully or partially. I was just wondering what types of food are good and what are bad.

Currently I am feeding Tobi Freedom, a grain-free dog food from the blue buffalo co. I spend around $50 on a thing that lasts around 6 months. I have fed him a raw egg once as a treat and he absolutely loved it. Sometimes I take the leftover chicken, shave all the parts with seasoning and feed that to him.

Would a raw diet be cheaper in the long run? Or healthier for my dog?

A raw diet wont be cheaper than your current cost but it is considered healthier though I guess that depends on how much meat costs where you live and the size of the dog. Some say they find the raw cheaper. I think, at least with costs here, $50 of raw lasting 6 months would be very hard to do.

My dog is in between the size of a small and medium dog. I tried uploading a picture but the file was too big. Would it all just depend on what kind of nutrients he would get from it?

Yeah it has to do with what nutrients as well as you are avoiding the chemicals in most processed foods. Kibble only is sort of like if you ate nothing but cereal all the time. They put the vitamins and minerals in there but you're missing out on all kinds of things science doesn't know yet or just doesn't understand well.

Here's a good starting place to feeding raw: http://rawfeddogs.org/rawguide.html
