Advice needed re: potty training a raccoon

Postby Tammynblake » Sat Dec 17, 2016 12:05 am

Our raccoon is 6 months old. He was using the litter box pretty regular and occasionally marking. About 3 or 4 weeks ago he started peeing everywhere so I had him neutered 2 weeks ago thinking that may help. Any suggestions yall may have for stopping this would be appreciated! What does everybody else use?

I use the cement mixing pans. also keep more than one pan.
line it with newspaper, then a little litter.

where is he peeing close to the litter box, or a stream as he walks?

if you just recently had him neutered, it will not be a quick fix, it will take time. especially now that it is close to breeding season.

Oh, he pees in specific places like in a corner in the kitchen. I put a litter box there and he pees beside it. He also likes to pee and poop in our garden tub. Then the biggest problem is when he walks over something like my shoes, clothes, bed, etc, he drags his butt across it and leaves dribbles

I have two little coons a boy and girl. I use low sided boxes to potty train coons I start out with 6 or more and once they use it I get down to two boxes. You can use puppy pads and just throw them away. I had a big male for 7 years and every morning when I let him out back he would run my fence line peeing all the way!!! When Spankey was in the house he peed in the toilet.
