He barks when I leave, how much time should I be spending with him?

Postby H20 Sl » Sat Aug 06, 2016 8:41 am

The moment I leave the garage( temporary, can't have him peeing on my carpet anymore ), he barks and screams for me to come back, even if I'm going to get something for him. Some days I'll spend all day sitting with him, yesterday for example, and some days I need to go and do thing, like eat for 5 seconds, or I'll be gone all day.

How many hours of attention should I give him?

He LOVES being pet for hours on end, which was surprising because I heard fox arnt big on that, or I misunderstood.

They normally don't. Yours is one of the rare special ones. I'm not sure how to help his separation anxiety but maybe try similar as for dogs. Leave him with a stuffed bone or something he'll be busy with for awhile. Maybe get a radio and leave it on fr him when you leave. He should eventually get used to the new situation though and calm down about it.

Yeah, He's always been like that. When he was a baby, he wasn't really bonded like now, but he would bark all night if I wasn't sleeping right beside him. I got a deer a couple days ago, and I gave him a leg bone to chew on. He isn't too interested anymore, so I'm not sure if that would distract him. I'll go get a few things from the pet store tomorrow.

I'll try and put a tv in there, I don't have a radio around I think, I might, I'll look around. I'll put on some Netflix show and tell how it goes.

Netflix will stop after a few episodes and ask if you're still watching.

You could try putting a little pile of your old towels or clothes in there with him so he has something that smells like you nearby.

Juska, that's when you get creative and find series that have super long episodes so a few will last through the night! Duh!   :icon-wink: jk!
