Arctic Fox agression

Postby Arcticfox » Sun Sep 11, 2016 9:35 pm

Hello, I have an arctic fox pup and was wondering if anyone has experienced there fox screaming at you for no reason. I pass by the fox and it will start screaming, sometimes it will go biting you to the extent. I don't know if its because its in that stage, it is only 4 months old and was wondering how to get rid of such aggressive behavior.

please give us a little more info.

how old was he when you got him?
where is he kept, in the house all the time? an enclosure?
does have have enough enrichment?
how often are you with him?
how many people interact with him?
does he have hiding places?
when did he start the aggression?
what all do you feed him? (chicken is a good source with the dog food)
is he always aggressive? or at certain times?

it is hard to say why, until we have more info on his background

please keep in mind a fox needs an outdoor enclosure, especially artics, they do no litter train well.
they want someone to go where they have their own space.

Did the person who sold you the kit tell you anything about its diet or behavior?

Dog food is not bad for a fox, per se, but you need to buy the high quality stuff.

Check this website for high quality brands and recalls. After my searching and researching, I have narrowed my possible dry dog food for a future fox down to eight listings. I will share them with you if you wish to know.

NEVER get a pet food that does not indicate the animal source of the meat used; and do not buy a food that doesn't list meat as the first ingredient.

Yes, feeding your fox dog food is okay, but it will be much happier with raw meats of the non-ground variety.

foxes need tarine in their diet.

this is what I feed mine:
boiled chicken (cut up in small pieces)
a little grain free dog food
raw chicken gizzards
raw chicken thigh bones (sparingly)
raw eggs (their favorite) one each a day.

I personally do not recommend beef or pork for their diet

I have raised foxes more than 14 years. my oldest fox will be 13 in march. he is very healthy as are the other two. they are 9 and 10.
(had a fox prior to the 3) guess I did something right.
