Greetings everyone.
Does anyone know of a vet that will neuter a young male pet raccoon in Northwest Pa. or Northeast Ohio ?
He was raised from infancy after the rest of his family was hit by cars on the roadway. I have no permit from the government to own him.

Re: Neutering
a wild raccoon is going to be a problem at most vets
most vets will want to see a bill of sale or permit from the game commission.
you shouldn't need anything from the government.
being in PA, all you really need is a bill of sale from a PA breeder. (if you can find someone that will do it)

Ok where might I obtain a Pa. bill of sale ? I'm willing to pay whatever they feel is adequate for their services. Thank you, I appreciate your help.

You might not want to put your email up like that. State officials can sometimes troll sites to try and catch people. I can remove that if you want? People can PM you with info or use the email option and it should get emailed to you without their seeing your email address.
Someone with a propagation permit would have to write you a bill of sale but doing so puts them at risk, since they didn't really breed and sell it to you.

Re: Neutering
Do raccoons need special care during neutering? Are they alright with the regular veterinary anaesthesia used for cats and dogs? Do they need special care afterwards? Cats, for example, do better on heating pads after a spay/neuter and need to be kept quiet and alone indoors so they can heal. Thank you!

If you're interested in traveling to south central PA, I can help you out with a name of a vet. PM me, if you want more info.
