Indoor Raccoons - Do They Hibernate?

Postby AshleyLs » Sun Jan 28, 2018 9:03 pm

My raccoon is around 9 months old and has been more tired than usual. (He is kept indoors only). Is it possible he could be going into hibernation?

It'll be a lesser version of the torpor they will eventually have, but they do slow down and sleep more.
At 12 months he'll switch over from diurnal to nocturnal, too. :)

my 2 males are sleeping alot. my female albino always wants attention.
I have not seen my youngest male in days, he sleeps in his big carrier under a bunch of blankets.

my oldest one will surface for a little while. (just for his food though)

That definitely makes me feel better - he’s been slowing down the past 2 weeks. I feel like I’ve been running around with him nonstop since June, so it’s kinda nice to have a break :D
