Quarantine for foxes?

So I'll make it aware that I live in the UK and I was curious to find out if foxes(of any subspecies) need quarantine.

Is this necessary to put a fox into quarantine and am I allowed to visit it while it is in quarantine?

I've read parts of the link above and it's rather confusing at the moment.
Also if someone could let me know where some breeders are that will do pet passports that would be very helpful :)

If someone could help, or if you have had experience and you can share that would be amazing .

I don't know much about the UK, but after importing any exotic it needs to go under quarantine for a long time. I don't know if you'd be able to see it in quarantine or not, but probably not. So if you're looking for a pet fox, the best would be to acquire one that's already in the UK, since by the time six months go by, it's not going to make a very good pet.

Yes, foxes need quarantine. Elina was going to get a Russian Domestic Fox but the quarantine place near her closed. I think you can visit but not handle them any because the whole point is to prevent rabies from entering.

The only breeder I'm aware of in the UK is Elina and I thought she stopped breeding foxes in 2013 (I've reached this conclusion because she hasn't posted about foxes on her website or fb page since 2013) and I can't really find anyone else at the moment. This is why I'm looking to purchase from the USA rather than the UK.

Also, if I am purchasing from the USA, would it be worth going over to the state I am purchasing from to collect?

And as far as quarantine goes, where do foxes get located/put? Are there special places for exotics? I've been looking forthe rules on quarantine and I can't find anything detailed enough on the goverment web pages.

( ... es/3752044 - is the 4 months quarantine still needed? I just found this and didn't know if it changes anything)

I apologies if any of my questions have already been answered above and I have miss read something.

No Elina doesn't breed any more her fennecs are too old and stopped.

It's still needed for foxes there is no approved vaccine for them. You'll probably have trouble finding a breeder willing to ship to you from USA due to the extra CITEs papers needed and knowing there will be that long quarantine. They will not be good pets after that. The only way it would make sense is for a breeder to import several to start a breeding population because that's all they'd really be good for after being isolated that long.

There's not much point in going yourself though it might be one way to be sure the seller is legit but they will have to be the one arranging travel and papers for the fox so trying to travel together might just complicate things.

They have special facilities for quarantine but there are not that many now that dogs and cats don't need it most of the time. ... d-premises

hmmm.... That's not good :(
and given the UK's position with the EU, It's gonna be hard to get fennecs from there as well.

Is the only way to get a Fennec fox in the UK likely to be breeding them myself? (or is there another way)

I feel uncomfertable by the idea as I would feel like I'd just be using them for that purpose and nothing else.
I also know very little(at the moment) about these foxes.

I'm still determined to try and own one but I don't want any of them to suffer and I'm concerned that them being I quarantine without human contact would do this as they would become 'less tame'.

I agree I don't think it's worth putting them through just for a pet. The only thing I can think is try contacting and exotic pet store and see if they can find a broker who might be able to get you one.

OK, I'll contact a pet shop soon and see what they can do :)

Also another quick thing, do you know where Elina got her foxes from/if she would be open for someone like me contacting her via fb about foxes in general?
I haven't quite gotten used to the idea of contacting those I don't know.
