How odd, I could have sworn Cat person said his friends had a domesticated silver fox in the US. . . I must be mistaken.

yes, cat person did say his friend has a fox from russia.
I had asked him to post more about it, but, he never did.

I got a rather odd PM response from him when I asked if there was any chance of footage of this fox. I'm a firm investor of the seeing-is-believing way of life. Maybe his friend has one, maybe he doesn't. I find the behavior involved to be a little suspicious though, and so without visual proof I'm putting my money towards 'not true'.

Not that I'm 100% sure the reporter got the correct information. He may have misinterpreted something, after all.

he told me he seen this fox.

personally, it don't make sense to me that this fox owner dont' want to join this board,
or show pictures. as judge judy always says "if it don't make sense, then it usually is not true"

but, maybe he got confused, I have no idea.

Well Sibfox had apparently never imported one before, so they would have gotten it directly from the Institute, and I thought the Institute was being kind of difficult about wanting to sell to the US at first...and the process Zebrafox is going through now seems pretty complicated. I would think it would be a bit easier for her if they'd already done it before.

I know russia refused to sell the U.S.
but, then (not sure when) someone said they decided to sell to the U.S

so, I honestly don't know. but, it does seem like a lot to go thru.

as far as I know, there aren't any russian foxes in the US, except for the two in texas zoo.

I doubt very much sibfox ever had any other foxes sent here, except for the two I mentioned.

His story basically works sort of like this:

1. Go to Russia
2. Choose fox
3. ?????
4. Profit

Cat person's friends got their fox directly from the Institute in Russia, though, right? So they might even have been Russian, and then brought the fox here on their own....? Just speculating...

neither sibfox nor the institute had brought foxes into the u.s. prior to viktor and anya.

remember that there are a lot of people who have tame foxes as pets and dont know the definition of domesticated, and call their foxes domestic. i see this a lot on the internet. its probably just confusion, someone having a fur farm fox and then hearing about the russian fur farm foxes and thinking "oh yeah i have one like that" and telling people that.

With enough time, perhaps the term Sibfox can again be used as a shorthand way of describing these amazing animals. "Russian Domesticated Foxes" is such a mouthful.

Looking rather good so far. A few things are missing labels, a few things need reworded, and the lightbox is a little difficult to close (can only be closed with the X) but I do like a lot of the features and effects, as well as the general layout of the site. I also like the image assets used. :3

Why won't Wiki let you edit / why can't it get edited? Do they not believe you? O.o
