kit doesn't want to eat help asap please

Postby rescue341 » Thu Apr 16, 2015 11:40 pm

I just brought home a red kit at the breeders I was shown best way to prepare her food and feed her tonight when I tried to feed her she seemed like a she didn't want to she finally ate about half a spoon full but wouldn't touch any more of it. She doesn't seem stressed she's been playing in her Penn and around the house scine she came home. Just worried something's wrong because she acted like she couldn't get enough food at the breeders. What do you guys think? All help is very appreciated

It's stress good and bad things both stress the body and often make an animal less inclined to eat. It's probably a bit of both even if you don't see it. Leave her in her cage alone with the food for awhile. She will also be more likely to want to eat after a nap, most likely.

As TG said she just needs time to adjust. When she is hungry she will eat. It is not unless she goes over 24h that you really need to worry. Just make sure she always has water available she she should be fine. I know it's hard but leave her alone so she can become accustomed to her new surroundings.

When they get hungry, they will eat. ;) If they do not (like Elina mentioned, for like 24 hours or something) then that most likely could be a sign that something else is wrong. Some fox kits eat like little piggies, others eat less. Hope you can get your baby to get some food down in her--it's always so stressful when bringing home a new pet. Stressful for both owner and animal.

I'd say give her time as the others suggested and leave her alone with her food.
