My *possibly* bengal cat.

Postby Alida_Lykaois » Sun Oct 31, 2010 1:36 am

Here are a few pictures of Lolly that I took today. She kept moving around and trying to run away, but I'm showing the best ones that I could get.

Lolly is enjoying my scratching.

She was irritated that I wouldn't leave her alone with the camera.

Hi Alida_Lykaois,

I am pretty sure but not a hundred percent that your cat is not a pure Bengal cat. The reason is you look at this link you will see the rosettes that are common on a Bengal cat: http://www.summersidebengals.com/images ... rinket.jpg. Also here is a link to show what the rosettes look like on the cat http://www.summersidebengals.com/images/sedi5m12.jpg.

I do think your cat is a very pretty domestic short hair mix with the Siamese gene and the white gene. The reason for this is your cat is white but also has dark extremities (legs, ears, and tail) and blue eyes that indicate the Siamese gene is present as well.

Hope that the above thoughts do not upset you. She is still a very very pretty cat that is for sure. I love her blue eyes. She is still a very pretty to get from rescue. Plus you saved her life so you should feel proud  .

I understand, and did see the pictures of the Bengal cats.

The site I found that matches my cat is:
http://www.spotagious.com/kittens.html

She looked identical to the white bengals on the site above.

Wow,.. now she looks just like the Lynx Point Domestic Shorthair that I looked up.

I guess I'm just a little clueless when it comes to the breeds of a cat.
When she was younger, I thought she had Siamese in her, but when she got older, the additional skin and hair under her stomach confused me, because that's similar to Tigers, for example. So, I knew she was mixed with something, just am a bit unsure.

I've always had cats since I was younger, but the only differences I noticed were the colors and long or short hair. icon_confused.gif

Hehe, she's definitely a pretty cat, whether she is a Lynx or Bengal, etc.

I just know she loves water, and loves climbing!
I figured y'all might like this. Here she is when she was younger:

(& yes, I was looking up at her, she was up near the ceiling on this wood thing at my mom's house)

The pouch on her belly is totally normal to all cats, be it mixed breed, pure breed or wild cat. Its sometimes called apron, sometimes primordial pouch.

This is definitely a bengal. I could tell from it's face and the markings on it's back. From the blue eyes I would say it's probably a snow bengal. They're really cool cats, enjoy.

Its a VERY common mutation in domestic shorthairs. There is nothing at all about the pattern on its back that is particularly bengal.
This color is not unique to bengals at all, bengals come from asian leopard cats, mixed with domestic shorthairs. Asian leopard cats do not come in this color or marking. Any bengals with similiar markings get it from the DSH influence.

Here is a good site for markings and patterns. Im just now getting into the Bengals. They are all gorgeous. And I love the breed origin. Have to females now. one is a low F. Trying to find a place I have have DNA test done. Would love to start a small breeding program.
