So, my friend buys a lot of bulk meat, and she gave me a large, hoof/joint ish bone for zorr. It was hard, solid, and bigger than his head. I gave it to him, and when I went to clean the enclosure, it was gone. Can foxes eat whole bone?
Thanks!

Re: Whole bones?
I don't think he ate it all. Especially if it was solid. He probably chewed on it for a bit then cached it.
Re: Whole bones?
I turn over and replace all the woof chips and dirt once a week, so I know he didn't cash it. When I give him a toy or bone, he will play with it and bury it when he is done. He never digs far though, mostly he just pushes dirt over it, and I see a big lump.

Re: Whole bones?
If he can chew it up he can eat it. Too much bone at once can cause constipation though. Otherwise it should digest unless somethings not quite right with him.

He seems fine, thanks though. Should I still give bones to him?

Re: Whole bones?
Yes. Raw meaty bones help keep their teeth clean and provide minerals.

Okay, thanks for your help (:

Re: Whole bones?
A friend actually gave me some deer legs for my foxes. Oh my gosh, they LOVED them. They stripped them clean and still chew on the bones. Great for their teeth!
A member here would feed her foxes a chicken wing with the bone each night to "brush their teeth." lol.

is it still ok if they bones are cooked? I know cooking causes some changes so I just wanted to check. We got left over ones from dinner so I thought she could have them.

Re: Whole bones?
No. Cooked bones can splinter an are also more likely to cause an impaction if they eat too many.
