Hmm I'm not sure if I trust that. The "qauntity discounts" part I don't really like, seems like they are more in it for the money rather than the wellbeing of the animals. I wonder where they get their armadillos...

They are a broker/importer most will gladly sell in larger amounts to other brokers/stores ect at a wholesale price. Like I said I can't vouch for or against this guy but that is standard. The importer Stewie came from and who I would vouch for offers wholesale prices to licensed people with a fax number. I'm USDA but no fax. To bad he does give a good discount. He doesn't advertise anymore because he "doesn't like dealing with the general public" So I don't know if he has them or not.

Sadly for various reasons I was unable to get my armadillo. I just may buy one or try again next year. I still would very much like to have one. They are such awesome little critters.

I didn't see what they went for, tho. They also had a female anteater, If I remember right she went for $1200.

My contact told me $1500 which is very cheap for a youngster like it was said to be.

I was close, yes it was young,or at least not very big. I didn't get a good look at her. Hope whoever bought her has good luck and a lot of fun. They also had a (i think) prairie dog that was tame. I really want one.

International Fauna has their Dillo ad on Ex-hobby again and this thread has a good reference http://www.raskbb.com/sybilsden/viewtopic.php?t=2432

Not being pushy. It's just a slow day and noticed there was a good reference.

I will get a hold of him, times are tough right now but I am going to try to get one in the spring. I have all my plans for enclosures and such put together but just have to get the funds to build them. I have some of what I need but not all. Would like to be ready before I bring the little thing home.

Suki, I have an armadillo who has taken up residence at my place for the past year, maybe I could ship a baby, lol, just kidding!! They are real easy to approach as they are foraging, so I petted it and it leapt in the air and took off running, so no worries about leprosy, I have a book that describes how that rumor got started, I believe there are 2 species and the one in Florida is not a carrier. "Rednecks" eat them, they call them 'possum on the half shell, don't think they would do this if they carried leprosy but I know from what I read I didn't have to worry about it. Opposums also carry EPM, I do not rehab these for that reason because I have a horse also. But I know Opposums make good pets, NYC apartment dwellers have kept them as pets, seen a program back in the 80's about this. Also, have friends here with them as pets, I love their feet, kinda remind me of a Greater Bushbaby's!!
